Happy
August
2025!
I'm hoping your August is going well!

I want to share some things I've been meditating on in Genesis 22. God gave Abraham an instruction to sacrifice his son. Wow - a seemingly unthinkable instruction and then he was to go the land of Moriah and up to one of the mountains for this sacrifice.

1. GOD GAVE AN INSTRUCTION - Abraham did not fully know the end result yet he obeyed. There will be many times we receive an instruction from God and do not know the outcome, yet we must obey.

2. ABRAHAM DID NOT DELAY. After God gave him a perplexing instruction, Abraham got up early the next morning, had things set in order and began his journey. When we know God has given us instruction, it is important for us to not delay, not procrastinate, not to wait around for more information. We must move in obedience until God reveals the next instruction. There are times after we've moved, that there is a delay, this is the time we must be careful not to come up with our own solution.

3. ABRAHAM TRUSTED GOD. After he started the trek toward Moriah, Isaac noticed that they had everything for the sacrifice but not the thing to be sacrificed and he asked his father where it was. Abraham said "that God would provide himself a sacrifice." He obeyed and trusted God for the outcome. This should be an inspiration to us, that when we don't have all of the answers as to where God is taking us, we trust him to unveil his plan.

4. GOD PROVIDED. After God saw that Abraham obeyed him and did not hold back that which he loved, God opened his eyes to see what he had already provided - "a ram that was suitable for the sacrifice." You see, after he obeyed, God showed him what was already provided for him. We can receive encouragement to know that God has already provided for us.

A FEW THOUGHTS:

The ram was not provided at the place where Abraham resided, it was in Moriah. He had to get up and go.
The ram was not provided at the bottom of the mountain, it was at the top. He had to climb.
The ram was not provided until he had fully obeyed. He had to be willing to give up that which he loved.
So...our place of provision is at the place of obedience.

PRAYER: Lord, as we hear your instruction and move into that which you have given us, we thank you for revealing to us our next instruction and ultimately seeing that which you have already provided.
